Anthropic told investors quarterly revenue reached $16.8 billion, up 45% from the prior quarter, as it prepares for a possible IPO that could raise up to $100 billion and test demand for major AI listings. The company also released Claude Duet, a work-focused agent that can act across connected apps with user approval.

Anthropic unveils work-focused Claude Duet agent

Anthropic introduced Claude Duet, a research-preview AI agent that monitors connected apps, sends morning briefings and carries out work tasks, moving its Claude chatbot toward taking actions on users’ behalf. The company says it can connect to business tools and asks users to approve consequential actions, including sending messages and making purchases. The New York Times reported it is aimed at work rather than personal errands; The Verge added that it can handle tasks such as building dashboards and forecasts.

Anthropic commits shares to new public-benefit fund

Anthropic said it will place 5% of its shares in a new Public Benefit Fund, subject to stockholder approval. The company says the fund could support nonprofits or make direct payments to people affected by AI, including workers facing labor-market disruption. Its stake could grow as Anthropic’s valuation rises, at the board’s discretion, according to the company’s announcement.

The fund will be a wholly owned LLC and, Anthropic says, its shares will not be used for lobbying or political donations. Including earlier founder and employee commitments, about 20% of the company’s shares will be dedicated to public benefit. The Wall Street Journal reported the announcement amid preparations for a potential IPO, which it said could raise up to $100 billion.

Anthropic reports $16.8 billion in quarterly revenue ahead of IPO

Anthropic told investors its third-quarter revenue rose 45% from the previous quarter to $16.8 billion, as it prepares for a possible public offering as soon as next month, according to the New York Times and Wall Street Journal. The company hosted public-market investors at its San Francisco office; the IPO could raise up to $100 billion at a valuation near $2 trillion, though its timing may change.

The figures offer investors a view of the AI company’s growth ahead of its listing and could affect appetite for other technology IPOs. The Times says Anthropic described itself as profitable on an adjusted basis, while the WSJ notes volatile markets and competition from OpenAI and lower-cost Chinese models. A Simon Willison summary of Financial Times reporting adds that Anthropic reported an 11% adjusted operating margin and said rival labs’ model distillation had accounted for 5% to 7% of revenue before it was materially reduced in the third quarter.
