Hunter S. Thompson

What’s the big deal with Hunter S. Thompson? Who really cares about him? I can’t figure out why the launch of his ashes into space really matters [Link].
Any ideas?

    no idea ’bout him but lots of of folks like his gonzoist idealism and fear and loathing in las vegas, which about duke and his dopie lawyer’s vivid reactions due to his drug-addicted cynicism , … yes gonzoism ~ cynicism and it’s quite a big deal for drug addicteds (the bible didn’t say “thou shall not smoke plant”)

    His ashes weren’t shot into space. The debris were loaded into a firework and exploded as a show. Thompson’s life consisted entirely of show. So, one shouldn’t be too surprised at a showy send off.

    I guess the show regarding Thompson didn’t surprise me…it’s the amount of news coverage that I can’t figure out.

    hehehe, many writers, journalists,liberalists, etc as well as editors used to hang out with dopes during their colleges, or still … they do … and of course, they want to market for what they once think of as “good stuff” google for hunter thompson shows half number of searches of what for marijuana. HST really made “the thing” known in his campaign. Even Johny Depp’s one of his dear friend … think ’bout it… how many of the other half of the population’r fond of him … not even mention Bob Dylan

    So he’s popular because of weed? And last time I checked, marajuana is still illegal…(regarding comment #1 — “the bible didn’t say…”)
    So I ask…does the “real” world care about Thompson?

    oh yeah … lots of people think that he’s and his writings r fascinating … like i personally do … yet still this is a self-interest answer as well as my previous self-interest comments … yeah … what on earth r we still talkin about HST?
