Four Great CDs

I am dedicating this post to four great CD’s that have given me much joy over the past few months.
(Due to images…you’ll have to read the full post on the by clicking below…)

1. Ben Folds, Songs for Silverman
Ben FoldsA great follow-up CD for the three eps (released over the past three years), and another wonderful album in his collection. It is filled with great tracks like “Landed,” “Gracie,” and “Time” (my personal favorite). Ben even throws in a little jazz and continues to impress with piano playing most could only dream of. The only negative of the album is the “Parental Advisory” label; I’m not sure why made the list, but it does tend to be Folds’ style to use a bit of profanity. In spite of that, I still recommend it!
2. Tristan Prettyman – Twentythree
Tristan PrettymanI first saw Tristan play in Austin at Stubbs during the OAR/Howie Day concert last year. I liked her sound and waited for her first “major” release over the past year. My waiting was rewarded earlier in August with a great CD…it is filled with San Diego style music (can’t explain it but think Jack Johnson and Jason Mraz)…good lyrics, smokey voice, and catchy songs. It’s a mellow delight.
3. Jason Mraz, Mr. A-Z
Jason MrazI expected some slump from Mraz’ sophomore issue, but was pleased that he didn’t fall like John Mayer did with his Heavier Things. Off the bat, I wasn’t terribly please with Mr. A-Z, but it has a catchy nature that I saw in Waiting for My Rocket to Come. Each subsequent “listen” is more enjoyable; quite frankly, this cd has made itself home in my car for more than a month now.
4. Lifehouse (self titled)
LifehouseLifehouse’s third cd is arguably their best. Unlike most bands, I feel like their music has gotten stronger on each progressive album. Although I don’t see much variety in their style, I happen to like their style and am okay with that one shortcoming.
These are three CD’s that are worthy of being in your collection too!
